With reference to your letter of the 2nd

December 1904, No: 40062/1904, relative to the transfer

to the Admiralty of certain land at Long Harbour, Mirs

I am com- Bay, by the Colonial Government of Hong Kong; manded by the Lords Commissioners of the Admiralty to acquaint you, for the information of the Secretary of State for the Colonies, that under the circumstances stated in your letter, My Lords agree to bear the cost of the compensation for private rights on the Peninsula which amounts to $ 391.35.

2. My Lords also acquiesce in the stipulation that if the Temple and House which are to be allowed to remain on the Peninsula are let, the rent obtained therefor shall be paid to the Colonial Government.

My Lords have called for a report from the Commander-in-Chief as to whether the use of the property

is required for Naval purposes, and a further communication will be made to you on this point when such report has

been received and considered.
